What's the real difference between broadband and a leased line?
A leased line is a dedicated, uncontended circuit with matched upload and download speeds and a service-level agreement. Business broadband is faster to install and cheaper, but it is contended — shared with other users — and its upload speed is typically much lower than download.
How long does a leased line take to install?
Industry lead times are typically in the region of 30–90 working days, and can be longer where new civil works or wayleaves are required. The only accurate figure comes from a site survey against the specific address, which is where the process starts.
Can we avoid downtime while switching provider?
Yes. A parallel install keeps the existing circuit live until the new one is proven, then the changeover happens in a planned window. Where continuous uptime matters, a second diverse circuit or 4G/5G failover carries traffic through any single failure.
What is failover and do we need it?
Failover is an automatic switch to a backup connection — usually 4G/5G or a second line — when the primary drops. Whether it's worth it depends entirely on what an outage costs the business; for anything that can't stop, it usually pays for itself.
Do you support SD-WAN across multiple sites?
SD-WAN pools multiple circuits and steers traffic intelligently across sites, which improves resilience and can lower cost versus traditional private networking. It suits multi-site organisations; for a single site, resilient connectivity is usually the simpler answer.
